our story: a love 14 years in the making

Our story is simple: We met for a reason and were given the gift of time to learn, grow, and truly be ready for each other.  Over time, it became clear that nothing - nothing - can ever change this love we have.

Fall 2007

Pace University, Maria’s Tower, Floor 11

NYC

We first met in July of 2007 at the Pace University freshman orientation.  Once freshman year began, fate assigned us to live on the same floor of our dorm, the 11th Floor of Maria’s Tower.  That’s where our “Floor 11” crew made memories, formed bonds, and got to know each other very quickly.

Christina: I’ll never forget the first time I met Pat.  I felt something so strongly during orientation that when I went back home, I went on Facebook for the first time just to find him!  As my feelings for Pat grew, our friend and officiant Julia warned me against any funny business with Pat.  “Christina, don’t be one of those girls...”  So I wasn’t.  For 14 years.

Pat: I remember the exact moment that I fell in love with Christina.  One day we were in central park and I was throwing a baseball around with our friend and other officiant Mihir.  Christina was looking on and said, “You know, Pat’s gonna be the best dad!”  On the outside I played it cool but inside, I was overcome with an emotion I had never felt before.  I thought, “Oh my god, I love Christina” and began to imagine a life together.

2007 - 2021

From NYC to the Hudson Valley and back again

For 14 years, we remained friends as we wove in and out of each other’s lives.  We met each other’s boyfriends and girlfriends, families, and went out with our Floor 11 crew whenever we could.  Every chance she got, Christina would sit near Pat at group dinners or stand next to him in group photos (see below).

Fun Fact: Both of our dads told us we should marry the other.  How’s that for parental guidance?

Christina: During a beach weekend in Long Island, Pat cooked me and all of our friends his famous pancakes from scratch.  We left a few for Dave to enjoy, and he left a note saying, “Marry Pat, if only for the pancakes.”

Pat: My dad met Christina at a fundraiser, where she made quite the impression.  In the years to come, he would regularly ask about her and even said, “She’s a keeper.  You should marry her.”  I didn't think it was possible at the time, but I eventually found myself (unfairly) comparing the girls I dated to her, none of whom could ever measure up.

June 2021

Wedding of Holly Weinberg & Brian Cudzillo
Rochester, NY

At our dear friend Holly’s wedding in Rochester, NY, our Floor 11 crew gathered once again.  This time, the stars aligned.

Pat: Our Airbnb had exactly 1 bedroom for the 6 of us staying there.  Christina ended up in the bedroom alone and when she repeatedly invited "anyone" to share the bed with her, I knew she really meant me.  I figured our friend Disha would take her up on this, but she mysteriously decided to sleep in a closet instead.  I saw my opportunity, and I took it.

Christina: First of all, I wasn't insinuating that Pat should take the bed with me. In Rochester, he finally told me how he felt all these years and much to his surprise, I revealed I had been feeling the same way.  And the rest is history.

A Special Shout Out to our Floor 11 Crew!

This love is for you!
